Remington Youth / Community Radio (RYCR), in partnership with the Greater Remington Improvement Association (GRIA), is a program that combines community building and youth development as core outcomes. During the program’s pilot 2008-2009 season, a dozen youth aged 9-16 had the opportunity to become interviewers, documentarians, artists and community organizers in a project aimed at collecting and sharing Remington residents’ stories and opinions about their neighborhood.

The program has continued in 2009-2010, with youth interviewing numerous residents, making art reflecting their findings, creating audio pieces, and building a portrait of the hidden stories of the neighborhood and those who live there. These will be shared in a final 2-CD set, and at a culminating community exhibition coming up in June.

RYCR is supported by Gallagher, Evelius & Jones LLP, Hamel Builders, Seawall Development, The Reznick Group, and the Jim and Patty Rouse Foundation.
